Solar Power Project Begins Its Journey to Koutaya

26th August 2026

The next stage of URBOND’s work in Koutaya, Guinea, is officially underway, with equipment for a new solar power system now beginning its journey to the school.

A container carrying everything needed for the installation has now left the UK, including solar panels supplied by GRP Solutions. Once installed, the system will provide the school with a clean and reliable source of electricity for the first time.

Currently, the school has no access to mains electricity and has relied on an ageing diesel generator. The new solar installation will provide a much more dependable and sustainable source of power, supporting the children’s education during the school day while also creating new opportunities for the wider Koutaya community outside school hours.

GRP Solutions has been proud to support URBOND throughout the development of the school, which was built to provide children in Koutaya with access to education. Our involvement has continued as the project has developed, including support for a water borehole providing clean water for the school and surrounding community.

Supplying the solar panels marks another important step in the project and will help give the school the infrastructure it needs for the future.

We’re proud to continue playing a part in a project that is creating lasting opportunities for the people of Koutaya.

We wish the container a smooth journey to Guinea and look forward to sharing further updates once the equipment arrives in Koutaya and installation work gets underway.
