Solar Power Project Begins Its Journey to Koutaya

26th August 2026
When we look at the environmental impact of GRP Solutions, our own operations are only part of the picture. A significant proportion of our overall footprint comes from the products we buy and supply, which means the actions of our manufacturing partners have an important role to play in helping us reduce that impact.

That’s why we continue to engage with our suppliers about sustainability, encouraging greater transparency, more responsible manufacturing and practical action to reduce waste and emissions.

One example is METYX, which has been making significant progress across its manufacturing operations. In 2025, the company recovered 251 tonnes of PET and PVC, 172 tonnes of paper and cardboard, 68 tonnes of balsa and wood and 16 tonnes of scrap metal, as well as recycling 16,853 wooden pallets.

METYX is also investing in renewable energy. Its solar power system in Hungary avoided 93 tonnes of CO₂ emissions in its first two months, with the potential to reduce emissions by around 550–560 tonnes annually. Further investment in solar power is planned for its Turkish operations.

For us, developments like these matter. By working with suppliers that are actively reducing waste, improving resource efficiency and lowering the carbon impact of manufacturing, we can begin to address emissions further up our supply chain.

It also has benefits for our customers. Improvements made at manufacturing level contribute to reducing the wider environmental impact associated with the materials they purchase from us.

We know there is still much more to do, but reducing our footprint requires action throughout the supply chain. By understanding where our greatest impacts lie and working collaboratively with suppliers to address them, we can continue to make meaningful progress.
